Hey ya,
Went back to Chiri mountain for an overnight backpacking trip. Left on Tuesday morning... around 4:30 in the morning. Got to the northern entrance of the park around 9 or so. The plan was to hike up 6 kilometers to the ridge then travel along the ridge to the shelter just below the highest peak on the mountain. Then hike the peak in the morning and then come down and drive home.
Here is a large pool of water on the ascent. I'm going to try and come back here in the winter for a polar plunge.
This is a picture from the ridge-line.
The furthest peak is Cheongwong peak, the highest point in South Korea outside of Cheju island.
A picture of the valley below.
A tree that someone forgot to water.
More trees that someone forgot to water.
Snow! Not much, but enough to make me get excited about snowboarding. I got a Giro snowboarding helmet and some new Burton cargo pants. Totally sweet.
A picture of the sunset from Cheongwong peak.
Video from Cheongwong peak. Enjoy.

Sorak Mountain
Went to Sorak mountain last weekend. Pictures are below.
It was a day hike, I left around 04:30 or something like that... I got to the top in about three hours and it took me about two hours to get down. I got back around 14:30. Then I drove home. Pretty simple.
blah blah blah, this is a picture of some water at the base of the hiking trail.
Just over 4 kilometers to go the top...
somehow, still just 4 kilometers to go.
picture of the mountains on the opposing valley side.
A picture of the rare Korean wild, mountain-walrus sea-hawk falcon.
More mountains... getting kinda' sick of walking uphill at this point...
This is what the trail looks like, pretty nice... cept the rocks really suck on the way down because they are hard and provide your knees with no cushioning.
Sorak falls. It's roped off. I just climbed over the rope and started exploring.
just over two kilometers go to... now we're getting somewhere...
alright, the last .5 kilometers... piece of cake.
Breaking through the tree line. Not that we're that high up but the trees can't survive the harsh winter winds so at the tops of most mountains there are no tall trees...
At the top, look westward towards Seoul... if you look really hard, you still can't see it in the background...
same picture as above, just wanted to post it twice...
This is looking northeast, the sea coast is off to the right.. and the famous inner section of Sorak mountain is where all those jagged rocks are.
squiggles I can't read.
A vicious mountain yeti.
on the way down, almost home.
Children running away from the mountain yeti seen above.
