...snowboarding, a lot. Yeah, I've been real busy doing a lot of snowboarding. Really not much else. So let's get to the pictures and stuff...
This is our first snowboarding trip of the season. My friend and I went to Yongpyong, which is the largest ski resort in Korea. My board is on the right. It's regular 5150 brand Covert model board.
That clown in the middle of the picture is my friend. I don't know why he's trying to snowboard like a zombie, but whatever. As you can see all the snow at this point is man-made.
This is the view from the crest of one of the double blacks at Yongpyong. Just beyond the edge there is a slope somewhere... It's actually not that bad as far as steepness. It got pretty icy as all the skiers move the snow off to the sides.
Another view of the double-black from the ski-lift. This is all from the same trip which was in mid November.
This is guy sitting in the middle of the slope because he has no idea what he's doing. He is typical of the average snowboarder in Korea. I like to think of them as organ donors, just sitting in the middle of slope waiting to be involved in a speculator crash of some sorts.
Snowbunny, Lee Hyori.
Another trip to Yongpyong. This time with several friends after about 5 inches of fresh snow, but wet snow so it packed pretty quickly. This at the top of the mountain after getting off the gondola, the height being about 1500 meters above sea-level. Pretty cold and windy up here. Sort of seemed like the sky was going to open up and swallow the world.
Another shot from the top of the mountain, it's colder than it looks.
This is a separate trip and this picture actually has a story. This section wasn't originally roped off by that neon red/orange rope. Originally you could snowboard right next to the building and jump off of the lip and get some air (better picture below).
So I decided that I would do that. I came drifting down the edge of the building and turned toeside to make my jump off of the lip. Somehow I caught my toe-side edge after the tail of my snowboard hit the building. This was all right before my jump. So instead of jumping, I essentially just fell over and chest-planted on the lip of snowbank. But since I was moving a bit fast my board flipped over me and I ended up rolling over my neck/right shoulder onto the slope. Pretty funny. Too bad I was alone.
More powder.
Just another view of the resort.
This is the top of Yongpyong's steepest slope. Rainbow 3... or maybe it's Rainbow 4.. I dunno. Anyhow. At the bottom you can see the ski lift. Between there and here is just a lot of falling down the mountain.
This is actually another ski resort called Yangji. It's not nearly as big as Yongpyong and it's even smaller than Roundtop and the other resorts in southeastern Pennsylvania. But it's nice because it's open till 5AM. And actually, last weekend I was there till about 5. I was tired. Real tired.
